Heba Akbari is a Pediatric Neurology Fellow at Lurie Children's Hospital/Northwestern McGaw Medical Center. Prior to beginning her pediatric neurology fellowship, Heba completed her residency training in general pediatrics. Heba earned her medical degree at Case Western Reserve University School of Medicine. Heba earned a Bachelor of Arts and a Bachelor of Science from the University of Illinois at Chicago. Her undergraduate studies focused on a double major in biological sciences and psychology with a minor in chemistry.
Throughout her academic career, Heba has been involved in various research projects. These include: anoxic depolarization in naked mole rats, migraine mouse models, repetitive transcranial magnetic stimulation in chronic stroke survivors, and genetic testing in the NICU. She has a special interest in pediatric epilepsy and medical education.
